Dentistry

Dentistry is an important tool in maintaining your pets overall health. Clean and healthy mouths are a big part of healthy pets. Here at Wea Animal hospital we offer ultrasonic scaling and teeth polishing, fluoride treatments and digital dental x-rays.

Dental x-rays are important in assessing tooth health because 60% of the tooth is under the gum line and that is where most of the disease lies that leads to oral pain and tooth loss. Not to mention that infection leads to bad breath and can cause systemic illness.

Laser Therapy

WEA Animal Hospital is excited to offer our clients Companion Animal Laser Therapy. Laser therapy provides a non-invasive, pain-free, surgery-free, drug-free treatment which is used to treat a variety of conditions and can be performed in conjunction with existing treatment protocols.

Relief and/or improvement is often noticed within hours depending on the condition of your pet's unique health status. Whether your pet is rehabilitating from trauma or injury, healing from wounds, or simply aging, your companion can benefit from this innovative approach to treating pain.

Applications for laser therapy include:

  • Treatment of arthritis
  • General pain management (sprains, strains, and stiffness)
  • Post-surgery pain (spays, neuters, declaws, and other surgeries)
  • Skin problems (hot spots, lick granulomas, infections)
  • Dental procedures
  • Fractures and wounds (bites, abrasions, burns and lesions)
  • Ear infections

Digital X-Ray

We can perform full body and oral digital x-rays. Digital is superior in image quality to traditional film x-rays. We can see much more detail in digital x-rays and that leads to better care. The added benefit to digital x-ray is that we can send the images home with you on a disk, printed or email them to you.

Preventive Wellness

Your pet is an individual and should be treated as such. Gone are the days of cookie cutter vaccine protocols.

Here at Wea Animal Hospital, your pets' lifestyle, environment, age and breed are taken into consideration when developing an individualized wellness plan. We follow the three year DHPP (canine distemper/parvo) and three year FVRCP (feline distemper) protocols after the initial puppy/kitten series. We also offer 1 and 3 year rabies vaccinations. Other vaccines are given on an as needed basis. If you are concerned about over vaccination, or your pet has had vaccine reactions in the past, vaccine titers are available to determine if a vaccination is needed. We also stress parasite screening and prevention, yearly to bi-annually wellness visits to prevent and address health issues early, and maintaining a healthy weight.

Treatment includes, but is not limited to, antibiotics, antihistamines, immunotherapy, steroids, food trials, medicated bathing, and nutritional supplements.

Anesthetic Monitoring

Anesthesia can be scary for pet owners. We employ advanced monitoring equipment while your pet is under anesthesia. We monitor heart rate, respiratory rate, blood pressure, oxygenation via pulse oximetry, temperature, and EKG. A trained assistant is monitoring your pet at all times and someone is with them at all times until they are able to stand. We place a tube in their trachea while they are asleep to guard their airway, they have fluids administered via an IV catheter as well.

In-House Laboratory

Wea Animal Hospital utilizes a complete in-house Idexx lab. We have the ability to perform CBCs, Chemistries, Electrolytes, Thyroid screens, Pancreatitis screens, Phenobarbital levels, Parvo testing, Lyme testing, Felv/FIV testing and Cortisol level testing. In fact, 80% of the lab work done in this hospital is done in house. That means results in 15 to 20 minutes, not 24 hours. This in turn allows for immediate and timely treatments.

Pharmacy

We have an on site pharmacy for your convenience. We carry the most commonly used medications. If you prefer to have your pet's medications filled elsewhere, just let us know and we would be happy to write a prescription for you. Keep in mind that we will have had to have seen your pet within the last year to dispense medications or write prescriptions. Some medications require regular monitoring blood work to be performed to refill medications
